An easy, elegant guide by Rings & I
There's something quietly powerful about a ring that fits just right. It slips on without resistance, sits comfortably, and feels—almost instinctively—like it belongs to you. At RINGS & I, where every ring is made to order, finding your perfect size is the first step to creating something truly personal.
The good news? You don't need a jewellery store visit to get it right. With a few simple tools and a little patience, you can measure your ring size at home—accurately, effortlessly, and with confidence.
The String Method: Simple, but Precise
This is the most accessible way to measure your ring size.
What you'll need: A thin string (or strip of paper), a pen, and a ruler.
How to do it: Wrap the string around the base of your finger, where the ring will sit. Make sure it's snug but not tight. Mark the point where the ends meet. Then, lay it flat and measure the length in millimetres. This measurement is your finger's circumference. You can then match it to a standard ring size chart.
A small tip: Your ring should glide over your knuckle without feeling loose at the base. If your knuckle is larger, measure both areas and choose a size in between.
The Existing Ring Method: If You Already Own One
If you have a ring that fits perfectly, this method is even easier.
What you'll need: A ruler or measuring tape.
How to do it: Place your ring on a flat surface and measure the inner diameter (the straight line across the inside of the ring). Make sure you're measuring only the inner circle, not the outer edges.
Once you have the diameter in millimetres, refer to a ring size chart to find your match.
Timing Matters More Than You Think
Your fingers aren't the same size all day. They expand slightly in the heat and shrink in colder temperatures. For the most accurate result, measure your finger at the end of the day, when it's at its largest. Avoid measuring right after waking up or when your hands are cold.
Consider the Ring Style
Not all rings feel the same, even in the same size.
● Thicker bands tend to feel tighter. You may want to go half a size up.
● Delicate bands sit lighter and may feel more flexible.
● Stacked rings can change how each ring fits individually.
At Rings & I, where you can explore 10 sizes, 10 shapes, 10 styles, trying prototypes helps you understand this difference before committing to your final piece.
When in Doubt, Measure Twice
Accuracy is everything. Repeat the process two or three times to ensure consistency. If your measurements vary slightly, always choose the larger size—comfort should never be compromised.
A More Thoughtful Way to Find Your Fit
While measuring at home works beautifully, sometimes you want a little more certainty, and a little more experience.
At RINGS & I, we've reimagined how you discover your ring. Instead of guessing, you can try on real prototypes, explore different widths and finishes, and understand how each design feels on your hand.
It's not just about size—it's about how the ring moves with you.
Measuring your ring size at home is simple. But choosing the right ring? That's where it becomes personal.
Because a ring isn't just jewellery. It's something you wear every day, something that becomes part of your story.
So take your time. Measure carefully. And when you're ready, come experience what it feels like to create a ring that's truly yours.
Your ring. Your fit. Your way.
